American Locomotive Company.

The American Locomotive Company was incorporated in 1901, the result of the merger of the Schenectady Locomotive Engine Manufactory with seven small companies. In 1955 it became Alco Products, Inc. and was acquired in 1964 by the Worthington Corporation. In addition to steam and diesel engines and generators, the American Locomotive Company also manufactured high quality steel and military tanks, with unsuccessful ventures in automobile manufacture (1905-1913) and the production of nuclear energy (1954-1962). The Associated American Artists Galleries Records comprises articles, clippings, exhibition catalogs, photographs and promotional material pertaining to the general history of the organization, the individual artists it represented, and promotions for various clients. Originally housed in 27 scrapbooks, the documents have been removed and placed in folders for archival preservation.

Artzybasheff, Boris, 1899-1965

Spanning 1893 to 1966, the Boris Artzybasheff Papers comprises biographical material, correspondence, artwork, writings, and memorabilia of the Russian-American artist (1899-1965), who is perhaps most widely known for the more than 200 covers of Time magazine he produced between 1941 and 1965. Illuminating Artzybasheff's unique and versatile artistic style as well as his life as an immigrant in the United States, the collection documents the career of the illustrator, painter, designer, and author.

Papers of the American industrial designer. Collection includes correspondence, research material, manuscripts, photographs, and sketches, reflecting Arens' career in industrial design. Clients include Columbian Rope Co., the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. (A&P), J.C. Penney, Philip Morris, and Reynolds Metals Co. Materials on the Flying Stag Press include correspondence with Rex Stout (1924-1936) and Rockwell Kent (1924-1933).

Adler, F. Charles, (Frederick Charles), 1889-1959

Correspondence; printed material, including articles, clippings, programs; and phonodiscs. A large part of the correspondence pertains to the organization and development of the Saratoga Spa Music Festival, predecessor of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center seasonal concert series. Writings include those of Adler and his wife, Hannah Moriarta Adler. Memorabilia includes financial material and an assortment of printed items, including clippings, programs, publicity, research material, and reviews. Programs include those relating to Adler’s work with the Federal Music Project (1936-1941). Recordings consist mostly of Saratoga Spa Music Festival recordings.

Abrams graduated from Syracuse University (Engineering) in 1912, shortly thereafter joined Standard Oil of New Jersey where he served as Director (1940) and Chairman of the Board (1946-1954). Papers include correspondence (1953-1961); a transcript of recorded reminiscences of Abrams by the Columbia University Oral History Project Office; photographs; and published materials, including articles by and about Abrams, clippings, and printed speeches.
